Basics of Material Removal

When you are looking at a large scale property clean out or yard clean up seeing all the large debris and trash can be overwhelming. Feeling taken aback and wanting to hire someone else to come in and do the job for you is only natural and to be expected. Bringing in professional trash haulers for material removal is something you have to do after some research into finding the company that will best fit your trash removal needs. Not all companies offer the same services though in general you will find they are very similar in what services they do provide. Make sure you fully understand what services these companies will provide and what is included in your trash removal project before you hire a company to come in. For the most part these companies will offer estate clean out, storm clean up or other large scale property cleanup projects. There are some things these companies are limited to and some of them do not offer services of removing hazardous materials. These companies are capable of handling a wide variety of items. Most of these trash hauling companies have the equipment and ability to remove items of all sizes, big and small. Some of them prefer to handle small projects and remove things like smaller bits of debris, leaves, and bagged household waste. Nearly all removal companies will accept these kinds of materials. Nearly any item that you no longer have any use for  can be removed like couches, mattresses, old dryers, stacks of old newspapers, broken toys and tools. Junk haulers have the equipment and means to remove large scale items that are no longer needed by you. Some of these companies are even able to handle the removal of large construction and renovation site debris, this is including concrete.

Material removal companies rarely are allowed to provide the services of removing hazardous waste and materials. Even though they advertise that will take it all away , however this usually has an exception of haz-mat items and materials. Some of these hazardous materials are obvious like asbestos and medical waste, but beyond that you may be surprised at what is considered to be hazardous material. Some of the things that would fall into this category are paint, oil, appliances containing coolant such as refrigerators and air conditioning units, fuel and paint thinner. When you are looking to hire someone to come in for trash removal think about the items that you need to have taken away, are any of them on this list of hazardous materials? If this is the case you may need to consider taking on the trash removal yourself because you will have to handle the hazardous materials yourself anyways and that being the case you will save yourself money in the process. If this is absolutely not something you want to do you may have to call around a bit to find a junk removal company in the area that specifically deals with and handles these types of materials. Be specific as to what items you have to be removed, be it paint or appliances and confirm with them that they can and will take care of removing them from your property. Many times the companies that provide hazardous waste materials services will charge extra fees for removal of such materials. Be sure to ask if this is the case so that you are not surprised by any extra charges that may be incurred.

For the most part these material removal companies will recycle the trash that they remove from different sites. Many are committed to turning one man’s trash into another man’s treasure. When they find items such as furniture and clothing they know that they can be repurposed for families who are struggling and have fallen on hard times in their lives. Items such as metal and glass can be sent away to be reprocessed and made into new items. Oftentimes these trash removal companies will be working with local charities to find these kinds of items that can be taken and given to others in need. This is a bonus as you are able to get the trash removed from you property, allowing you the extra space that you need for other projects and things and then it not left to sit in a landfill but given to the less fortunate who will be thankful to have it in their home. If you like the sound of this you may want to also call around and find out if there are any local companies that are involved in community service such as this.

Though many material removal companies advertise that they leave the sites they are working on “broom swept”, but this does not mean that they are a cleaning service. They do not consider themselves maids. They will sweep up any smaller debris that is left behind from the larger items like boxes or furniture, but to have the property truly cleaned, vacuumed, scrubbed and dusted you will need to do so yourself. As you would with any home improvement maintenance contractors, you need to talk about the specific details of the project you are working on before you decide to hire them on. You need to fully understand all the charges that you will receive and that they will provide you with satisfactory garbage removal experience.
